Google Maps is clearly one of the easiest navigation
services to use and thanks to their new “Send to Car” feature, you can send the
address straight to your BMW.
Before you start you need to complete two things:
Activate
your BMW Assist account
Know BMW Assist account name
(email address)
Both of these tasks can be
completed very easily by pressing the SOS button in your car. The button will
connect you to the BMW Assist call center and they will help you with setting
up your account and finding your account name.
Here are the steps to use the “Send to Car” feature:
Open your browser to Google Maps- must be completed on a
computer
In the bottom right hand corner, there should be a few
icons- look for the gray bubble with the question mark on it
In the box that pops up, click on “Return to old Google Maps”
In the box at the top of the screen, type in the address you
would like to navigate to
Click on the “More” button then “Send”
A new box will pop up in the
middle of the screen.
a.
On the left sidebar, under ‘Send to:’, click on ‘Car’.
b.
Next, select ‘BMW’ from the ‘Make’ drop down menu.
c.
Fill in your BMW Assist account name. This is always the email address that you
used for your BMW Assist registration.
d. Optional: Edit the
name of the address, un check the box indicating that you want to save this car
to your Google account, or add notes for you to see when you are in the car.
Now that you have finished with your computer, it’s time to
move to your BMW.
On your iDrive display, look for a envelope that has popped
up containing your address
Select the envelope and view your address
Select the checkered flag to begin your road trip and then “Start
Guidance.”
Enjoy your trip in your BMW!
